Administrative History: Cardigan Rural District Council was created under the provisions of the Local Government Act of 1894. The district comprised the parishes of Aberporth, Blaenporth, Llandygwydd, Llangoedmore, Llechryd, Mount, Tremain and Verwig. In 1934 the rural district of Cardigan amalgamated with that of Llandyssul to form the Teifiside rural district.
