Documents and photographs concerning Dinah Margaret Davies, ‘Nurse Davies’ (1906-1995). Daughter of the gasworks manager at Hirwaun, Glamorgan, the family eventually moving to William Street, Cardigan. Dinah took the Health Visitors Course at the National Health Society whilst working as a student at the Barley Mow Baby Centre, Lambeth. She trained as a nurse at the Essex County Hospital, 1925-1928, and continued at that hospital up to March 1929. She then worked at the Priory Hospital, Cardigan, before becoming a district midwife. Dinah was appointed a member of the Cardigan Borough Magistrates Bench in 1960, retiring to the supplemental list in 1974. She died on 5 June 1995.

1. Fragment of address chronicling Dinah’s career as a District Midwife and health visitor, and promoting the benefits of the Welfare State.
2. Welsh language address entitled ‘Mr S. Roberts and dear friends’. This again chronicles Dinah’s nursing career, giving humorous anecdotes. Five leaves.

Cancelled passport belonging to Miss D.M. Davies. Issued 2 June 1960, expiry date 2 June 1965. Contains visa stamps for Luxembourg, West Germany and Belgium (July-August 1960), and an exchange stamp for £40-1-5 from 21 June the same year.
