It comprises documents relating to land transactions in the late 18th and early 19th centuries [DB/96/1/1]; and a copy of the Act of Parliament which enabled the improvement of Aberaeron Harbour (DB/96/1/2) and which was, presumably, used in drawing up New Quay Harbour Company’s Act application. The material is arranged chronologically, from earliest date to latest.

(petitioner) and John Davies Gentleman and his wife Jane Davies (defendants), heard in the Court of Great Sessions, 1796. The costs relate to his claim to Title to the Estate, devised to him in the will of Mrs Davies, viz: lands and premises in the parish of Silian in the County of Cardigan.

Scope and Content: Final Agreement made in the Court of Great Sessions in the County of Cardiganshire, 20th day August in the twenty- sixth year of the reign of George III.
Between: James Jenkins (petitioner) and John Thomas and Elizabeth his wife (defendants). John and Elizabeth Thomas have sold to James Jenkins, for ‘Forty Pounds of Silver’, ‘two messuages, two cottages, four gardens, three orchards, twenty acres of land, ten acres of pasture, ten acres of five acres of wood and underwood [sic], and sixty acres of furze and heath, with all the appurtenances situate lying and being in the parish of Llanarth in the County of Cardiganshire’.
