NATURE AND CONTENT: R. Holder’s collection of documents: correspondence with the Forestry Commission (the current owners of a large part of Hafod) and other parties, maps, publications and miscellaneous. Raymond Ewart Holder was a builder from Eltham, London, who had purchased Myherin Forest freehold in the 1970s; the forest had been leased by Thomas James Waddingham to the Forestry Commission on a 999 year lease in 1929 (see H/G6/3). Holder sought to have a larger influence on the administration of the land and appealed to the highest authorities to achieve this, but was largely unsuccessful. This series documents his protracted negotiations with the Forestry Commission and his efforts to enlist the help of his MP, Peter Bottomley, various Welsh Office ministers and even the Queen. The Cefn Croes windfarm development is situated on this land and there are some documents relating to it in this series.
