Glynne Pickford joined his father in a photography business in Aberystwyth during the 1930s, and carried it on until 1972. His father, Hubert George Pickford, had worked with another photographer, Edward Richard Gyde, during the late 1890s and early 1900s. Glynne Pickford was also Mayor of Aberystwyth in 1956 and 1967.
